Golf Outing

Elephant with border

The Baptist Health Foundation Annual Golf Outing was started by the Long Family, who lost their daughter, Maria to cancer. During Maria’s treatments, she became familiar with the hospital. She called everyone her “buddy for life”. After her passing, her parents and two sisters decided to start the outing in her memory, to be able to provide “buddies for life” to every pediatric patient and visitor in the hospital. Since Maria’s favorite animal was the elephant, it only seemed natural to have the buddies be little stuffed animal elephants. Our staff at Baptist Health Louisville and La Grange give pediatric patients and visitors a Buddy for Life to comfort them during their time in the hospital.
